Henry discusses with Mrs. Markham a mix up with Pablo Sanchez over 6 volumes of California The Wonderful. Miss Ware sent them to Henry instead of Pablo. He is taking temporary charge of Markham House. Needs more Markham Autographs, he can sell them with the books.

California poet. Raised near Vacaville, became a schoolteacher in Coloma and later in Oakland. Became famous overnight with publication of "The Man with a Hoe," his protest against brutalization of labor, in "San Francisco Examiner" (January 15, 1899). Following this success Markham moved to New York where he scored another triumph with "Lincoln and Other Poems" (1901).
